7.1.2
Discuss the geographical borders of the empire at its height and the factors that threatened its territoral cohesion.
The Romans were on the Italian Peninsula. The region experienced cool rainy winters that created acres of productive farmland. The original settlement of Rome was built on a series of hills along the Tiber River. The Apennines, mountain ranges, well protected Rome from harsh weather and enemy troops, but a bad thing was if an enemy got through it would be hard for Rome to escape. The fact that the Apennines and the Tiber were very vast in size, it would surely threaten Rome's territorial cohesion.
